About

In 1885 the YWCA, which is one of the largest and oldest multicultural organizations in the world, was founded in England.

YWCA USA operates in 120 countries serving 25 million women and their families each year.  This involves 40,948 volunteers; 3,424 board members; over 6,000 part time staff; and over 6,000 full time staff.

Each YWCA provides valuable and needed services in their community for women and their children. YWCA Jamestown provides housing, day care, alternative school for pregnant and parenting teens, summer day camp, after school programs, pregnancy prevention, and a supervised visitation and exchange program.

YWCA USA which serves 2 to 3 million people annually, focuses its mission-driven work in three key areas where they believe they can have the most impact:

  • Racial Justice and Civil Rights

  • Empowerment and Economic Advancement of Women and Girls

  • Health and Safety of Women and Girls

We believe all women can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.

Our Mission

YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
